Definition
Electron radiative recombination is a chemical process whereby an electron reacts with a positive atomic ion to produce a neutral atom with the emission of a photon (i.e., radiation). Examples include electron reaction with H+ to produce H plus a photon; this process is responsible for the red color of many low-density nebulae.
