Geologist Robert S. Verish (1947– ), an engineering contractor for the Jet Propulsion Laboratory, is an experienced meteor observer and meteorite-recovery expert. He has found over 100 meteorites in California, Nevada and Arizona, including the “Los Angeles” shergottite—the fourteenth recognized meteorite from Mars. (M 52771)
