1993 RA8. Discovered 1993 Sept. 15 by E. W. Elst at La Silla. (*MPO 6475)

Nicolas-Claude Fabri de Peiresc (1580–1637) was a French humanist and philosopher with a great interest in astronomy. In 1610 he discovered the Orion Nebula and was one of the first to draw a map of the moon. He observed the satellites of Jupiter and has been honored with the lunar crater Peirescus. (M 53470)
