Named in honor of Fred Franklin (1932– ), astronomer in the Planetary Sciences division of the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics. Franklin’s researches have covered chaos in the solar system, the rings of Saturn, and mutual phenomena of planetary satellites. (M 22502)
