Discovered 1894 Jan. 29 by A. Charlois at Nice.

Named for a famous ancient town with a celebrated oracle of Zeus {see planet  (5731)} on a nearby hill. The town and temple were built by Deucalion after the universal flood. Dodona was destroyed in 219 B.C. (H 42)
