1985 RL. Discovered 1985 Sept. 14 by E. Bowell at Anderson Mesa.

Named in honor of Alain Maury, photographic scientist working on the Palomar Sky Survey II at Mount Palomar Observatory. Well known as a discoverer of comets and Earth-approaching minor planets, Maury began his professional career in his native France at the CERGA {see planet  (2252)} Schmidt telescope. He joined the Palomar team in 1984. (M 13178)
