Discovered 1923 Aug. 15 by V. A. Albitskij at Simeis.

Named in honor of Heinrich Wilhelm Matthias Olbers (1758–1840) who was a physician in Bremen and a keen amateur astronomer. Olbers discovered (2) Pallas, (4) Vesta and six comets and was the author of the first method for computing cometary orbits. (H96)
