Notch receptors are single-pass transmembrane receptor proteins involved in cell-cell communication processes. There are composed of functional extracellular, transmembrane, and intracellular domains. Members of the Delta-like (DLL1, DLL3, DLL4) and the Jagged (JAG1, JAG2) families, which are located in the signal-sending cell, may serve as ligands for Notch signaling receptors. The notch signaling pathway plays an important role in cellular proliferation, differentiation, and apoptosis.
