Zusammenfassung
Den 1949 erschienenen Jugendroman hatte Kästner bereits in der NS-Zeit als Film-Treatment konzipiert; aufgrund eines Schreibverbots musste er aber bis nach 1945 mit der Weiterbearbeitung warten. 1950 wurde der Roman, begünstigt durch dessen modernen filmischen Erzählstil, schließlich sehr erfolgreich verfilmt.
