Zusammenfassung
Der Roman von 1996 hat einen komplizierten Aufbau: Der Autor benutzt das Modell einer ‚Erzählung in der Erzählung‘ und entwickelt durch das Multiplizieren der Fabel eine mehrstufige Narration. Aus dem Vorwort erfährt der Leser vom geheimnisvollen Verschwinden der Hauptfigur, des Dichters Stanislav Perfec'kyj, auf einer Reise nach Venedig. Neben Tonaufnahmen, die Perfec'kyj selbst angefertigt hat, werden noch andere Indizien präsentiert, mit deren Hilfe der Verlauf dieser Reise bis zu Perfec'kyjs Verschwinden rekonstruiert werden soll.
