Nonnos von Panopolis: Metabolē tu kata Iōannēn hagiu Euangeliu

Zusammenfassung

Das unter dem Namen des Nonnos überlieferte (und trotz mancher früherer Zweifel sicher von ihm stammende) Werk aus der Mitte des 5. Jh.s ist eine hexametrische Paraphrase des Johannes-Evangeliums in insgesamt 3653 Versen. Jedem Kapitel ist ein eigener Gesang gewidmet, so dass das Werk insgesamt 21 Gesänge umfasst, deren Länge zwischen 237 und 92 Versen variiert. In sieben Fällen erfolgt der Übergang von einem Gesang in den anderen mitten in einem Vers (was sonst in griechischen Epen nicht üblich ist).
