Abstract
Anticipation is the translation into action of what has been seen in the exploration of possible futures through forecast and foresight exercises; it can be viewed as the capacity to use the future in the present. The future can be exploited in the present only if the realm of reality is far from being a given – that is, completed – totality. As a consequence, the laws of sociology, psychology, biology, or even those of physics may change together with the maturing of their ontological conditions.
