Disaster risk reduction (DRR) is an approach that focuses on preventing or minimizing the effects of disasters. The DRR is a crosscutting issue that needs to be accelerated by all government agencies over providing leadership, determining broad disaster risk management policies, overseeing implementation, and advocating for the inclusion of DRR concerns in broader development. The DRR has been adopted by the United Nations, which has developed an international strategy on promoting DRR as it has been shown to be very cost-effective. On the top, multi-stakeholder approach has been core part of the DRR where emphasis has been given on community-based DRR. The DRR is considered with the possibilities to minimize vulnerabilities throughout a society, to prevent the adverse impacts of hazards for accelerating the paradigm shift from the relief culture to the DRR culture (United Nations International Strategy for Disaster Reduction
