Multi-Stakeholder Partnerships
In this entry, “multi-stakeholder partnerships” refer to multiple actors from all sectors (public, private, and not-for-profit), who, animated by a shared interest and a common purpose, work together to achieve common goals, by pooling their diverse and complementary resources, expertise, and experience (OECD 2015). The UN Sustainable Development Goal 17 (which is designed to “Strengthen the means of implementation and revitalize the Global Partnership for Sustainable Development” (UN DSDG 2020a) identifies multi-stakeholder partnerships as an essential way of delivering all other 16 Sustainable Development Goals, in all countries. This can be done through the mobilization and sharing of financial and other resources by committed individuals and organizations working together, across a multitude of boundaries.
