Environmental awareness; Sustainability awareness


Awareness is defined as a “concern about and well-informed interest in a particular situation or development or knowledge” or as “a perception of a situation or fact” (Oxford Dictionary). It can also be understood as having knowledge or understanding of the subject, issue, or situation. Awareness is the ability to notice things (Cambridge Dictionary). Awareness can be also explained as “the quality or state of being aware: knowledge and understanding that something is happening or exists” (Merriam-Webster Dictionary). The last general explanation of the word “awareness” seems to elucidate the meaning of sustainability awareness, which is not only about knowing the meaning of the word but mostly about understanding what is happening and why. In other words, awareness perceives the consequences of the undertaken activities, as well as the outcomes of the lack of action.
