Definition
This chapter is to review how digital technology can have an impact on public health with the aim of maintaining good health and well-being globally as a sustainable development goal. There will be a particular focus on the development and advances in digital technology use in healthcare and examples of how technological advances have improved diagnostic capabilities and the treatment of health issues in remote areas of the world and how they will be utilised. The infrastructure requirements to support this and the subsequent uses of mobile technology to overcome issues with connectivity will be highlighted.
