Definitions

Marine protected area (MPA):

Area of the ocean, sea, and overlying water protected by law to conserve and manage a variety of ecologically significant features, ecosystems, and vulnerable species.

Tourism:

A person travelling for leisure outside of their usual environment for than a 24-h period.

Ecotourism:

Low impact travel to areas of nature often to learn and study the environment while, simultaneously, promoting conservation and the well-being of local communities.
