Definitions

Accessibility entails that persons with disabilities, like persons without disabilities, can access and enjoy opportunities and rights, and consequently participate fully in all spheres of society. Accessibility, in the context of disabilities represents a means and a goal, as well as an enabling factor for the social inclusion and active participation of all persons with disabilities in our societies on an equal basis with others.

Universal design means that the initial design of products, environments, programs, and services aims to facilitate to the maximum extent the use by all people without further adaptation.

Reasonable accommodation refers to necessary interventions to adapt the physical and virtual environment, without incurring in a disproportionate burden/cost, to make sure that persons with disabilities can exercise their rights and benefit from all opportunities over the life course.
