Description

The current version of the Mayo-Portland Adaptability Inventory (MPAI-4) consists of 30 items rated on a 5-point scale and representing key indicators of limitations in ability, activities and adjustment, and community participation after acquired brain injury (ABI). Three subscales representing each of these latter domains (Ability Index, Adjustment Index, and Participation Index) may be obtained in addition to a total score. The MPAI-4 includes ratings of common comorbidities (psychotic symptoms, alcohol use, drug use, and law violations); however, these ratings do not contribute to the total score. The MPAI-4 may be completed by professional providers, by individuals with ABI, and/or by their significant others and has been translated into a number of languages including Spanish, French, Danish, Italian, Swedish, German, and Portuguese.
