Ruff-Light Trail Learning Test
Analogous to verbal learning tests, the Ruff Light Trail Learning Test (RULIT) assesses visuospatial learning. The RULIT was specifically designed to avoid confounds that are common in patients with neurological disorders. Thus, the test can be administered without the prerequisites of preserved drawing skills, good eyesight, good motor control, and intact visuospatial integration skills. The participant is asked to learn a specific 15-step pathway within a complex configuration of circles interconnected by lines. After each step, feedback is provided to facilitate learning. Analogous to verbal learning tests, multiple trials are provided. The test is completed if the participant can master the pathway without mistakes in two consecutive trials or until ten attempts have been completed.
