Abstract

If one is concerned about measuring accurate properties of exoplanets, one will need to measure stellar properties such as stellar mass, radius, mean density, surface effective temperature, distance, and age. In this chapter, a number of basic properties for exoplanets are listed, and their dependence on fundamental stellar properties is discussed. The exoplanets with the most accurate properties are those that are transiting, where we have detected radial velocity signals and where we have good stellar parameters, e.g., via asteroseismic analysis of stellar oscillations.
