Abstract
This chapter is a general presentation of the field of star-planet interactions. It is intended as an introduction to the other chapters in this section of the Handbook of Exoplanets. The purpose is to provide the reader with an overview of the chapter contents that can be helpful to find information on a specific topic or subject of interest.
