Introduction
Dr. Candy Russell has made several key contributions to the field of couple and family therapy. Her dissertation, along with that of Dr. Douglas Sprenkle, laid the foundation of the Circumplex Model of Marital and Family Systems (Olson et al. 1979), one of the most influential frameworks for understanding family process that has been supported by over 1200 studies over the past 30 years. Dr. Russell provided significant service to the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT) and the Kansas Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (KAMFT), including serving on the AAMFT Board of Directors as Secretary, as a member of the AAMFT Elections and Ethics Committees, and serving as the KAMFT President and Vice President.
Career
