Botany and Ecology
Asparagus officinalis
Erect perennial herb from 50 to 150 cm tall. Stems are erect and glabrous. The smallest branches functioning like leaves called cladodes, these thread-like and in clusters of 3–6, these straight and bearing minute furrows. Leaves are small, scale-like with spurs. Flowers are the color yellow-green, single or paired in the axes of cladode clusters. Flower stalks long, jointed. Male flowers 5 mm long, females ½ as long. The berry is red, round...
