Abstract
The tibial spine avulsion fracture is essentially a feature only of the immature skeleton. The patient sustains an injury (typically sports-related) that would most often result in the rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament in a mature patient. As the ligaments in children are often stronger than the adjacent bone, the result in a child is a fracture of the tibial spine with varying degrees of displacement.
