Educational Background
Dr. Phillips earned her B.S. in psychology with honors in 1994 from the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma. She then worked as a manager in the entertainment industry for a few years before returning to school to pursue her true passion for a career as an educator and researcher. She completed her M.A. in experimental psychology at the University of Central Oklahoma in 2000 under the direction of Dr. William Frederickson and Dr. Mike Knight. She then went on to earn her Ph.D. in social psychology from the University of Oklahoma in 2005 under the direction of Dr. Ryan Brown.
Professional Career
After earning her Ph.D., Dr. Phillips joined the faculty at Columbus State University in Columbus Georgia. She was there from 2005 to 2011 during which time she was granted tenure and promoted to associate professor and served as the assistant chair of the psychology department for 2 years.
