Glen O. Gabbard, MD is Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas, and a training and supervising analyst at the Center for Psychoanalytic Studies in Houston. He is an internationally renowned psychoanalyst and psychiatric educator whose main areas of interest are: (1) boundaries and boundary violations in therapeutic relationships; (2) psychodynamic/psychoanalytic treatment of borderline and narcissistic personality disorders; and (3) the psychological vulnerabilities of physicians, psychotherapists, and other helping professionals.
Early Life and Educational Background
Gabbard was born on August 8, 1949, in Charleston, Illinois. His father was Eastern Illinois University Theatre Arts Department Chair E. Glendon Gabbard, and his mother was actress Lucina Paquet Gabbard.
