Pediatric Hydrocephalus

Abstract

Hydrocephalus is a complex disorder with broad and heterogeneous implications for children’s lives, spanning cognitive, physical, social, emotional, and psychological domains. In appreciation of this, there has hence been a shift in dogma toward developing and incorporating quality of life (QOL) and functional outcome instruments into the assessment and treatment of children with this condition. Taking a holistic approach to the patient, the present chapter focuses on QOL considerations in childhood hydrocephalus.
