Current Fundamental Beliefs
Seventh-day Adventists currently adhere to a set of 28 fundamental beliefs. They may be divided into six areas – the doctrines of God, humanity, salvation, the church, Christian living, and restoration. In each area, “God is [believed to be] the architect, who in wisdom, grace and infinite love, is restoring a relationship with humanity that will last for eternity” (General Conference 2017). God: Adventists believe that Scripture is the foundational revelation of God’s character, his role in human history, and his plan of salvation. They believe in the perfect, intimate, and harmonious union of three coeternal divine persons – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Humanity: They further believe in the biblical narrative of God making the world ex nihilo and creating humans in God’s image.
