Abrosimov, Egor Ivanovich (? – 1810) – was a Russian captain, astronomer, teacher, and researcher of the White and the Baltic seas. From 1788 to 1803, he taught practical astronomy in the Sea Cadet Corps along with the marine research. In 1799–1802, A. took part in the expedition to the White Sea to determine latitudes and longitudes under command of Major General Loggin I. Golenishev-Kutuzov. In 1802–1806, he participated in the Baltic Sea survey under command of the Rear Admiral Gavriil A. Sarychev. In 1806, A. shared his findings and gained experience in the “Essay describing theory and practice of determining latitude and longitude in the sea and surface.” In 1807, to conduct astronomical observation he resided in Kronstadt. In 1808, being 8th grade officer and astronomer, A. served as inspector in the Baltic Navigation School. In 1809, he defined astronomical position of the coast in the Gulf of Finland.
