Ivanov, Kurbat Afanasyevich (?–After 1667) – a pathfinder and explorer of East Siberia and Northeast Asia. He served in Cossack troops since 1638. In 1640–1659, he led a number of expeditions along the Lena River, was the first to come to Baikal over the Primorskiy Range, and discovered Olkhon Island. He conducted expeditions for hunting and fishing in the Lena Basin area. He was the chief of Anadyr ostrog in 1659–1664. He worked in Anadyr area. He walked about 1,500 km along the coast of Gulf of Anadyr and northeastern shores of the Bering Sea and discovered Bay of Krest, Providence Bay, the Govena Peninsula, and Korfa Bay. In 1665, he made a drawing of the explored area.
