Inner Shelf Transfer and Recycling, ISHTAR – an international project that was implemented in 1985–1988; it was aimed at studying the summer hydrological conditions in the northern part of the Bering Sea and Bering Strait and in the southern part of the Chukchi Sea, with a special emphasis on ecohydrodynamic studies. The program of the project, in addition to the extensive marine research, included a numerical simulation of the ecohydrodynamic condition of the northern part of the Bering Sea on the basis of three-dimensional GHER model of the University of Liège (Belgium) elaborated by Prof. Jacques Nihoul.
