David Schnarch is recognized as one of the foremost international experts in sexuality and relationships and a pioneer in the integration of sex therapy and couple therapy. David is the developer of Crucible Therapy which introduced differentiation-based treatment to the field of sex therapy. Crucible therapy integrates autonomy and connectedness in emotionally committed relationships. Dr. Schnarch believes that emotionally committed relationship problems are frequently unrecognized and misunderstood natural processes of differentiation in action. The crucible approach is a fundamentally nonpathological approach which encourages partners to increase their individual emotional maturity in order to gain increased intimacy.
Dr. Schnarch has received three significant awards. He was one of the first to receive the Professional Standard of Excellence Award from the American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors and Therapists (AASECT) in 2009. In 2011, he earned the Outstanding...
