Mona DeKoven Fishbane, Ph.D. (b. 1947)

Introduction

Mona DeKoven Fishbane has made significant contributions to the fields of couple and intergenerational psychology through her work integrating neurobiology, relationships, and systemic thought. She authored the book Loving with the Brain in Mind: Neurobiology & Couple Therapy (Norton, 2013), as well as articles and chapters on couple therapy, intergenerational relationships, and neurobiological-relational approaches to couple and family therapy.

Career

Fishbane received her Ph.D. in psychology from the University of Massachusetts in 1979. She has worked at Salem Hospital Mental Health Center in Massachusetts (1979–1981), the Behavioral Medicine Clinic of the Psychiatry Department of Stanford University Medical Center in California (1981–1982), McLean Hospital in Massachusetts (1983–1985), the Boston Center for Family Health (1982–1984), and the Student Counseling Service of the Hebrew University, Jerusalem (1988–1989).
