Definition
This entry describes the presence of various churches and religions in the history of Panama, their development, influence, and current situation. Everything appears as a mosaic of cultures, migrations, churches, and expressions of faith, and Panama is a country formed by the steps of many and the confluence of a number of cultures and peoples.
Introduction
It is a recurrent topic to talk about Panama as a transition country and “melting pot.” However, this has not always been so. Since pre-Columbian times, this narrow strip of land served for passage and communication between peoples of the South and Mesoamerica, although the ancestors of seven indigenous tribes who still live on the isthmus and others, already extinct, also settled here. In the Colonial Era, Panama saw the passage of gold and silver from Peru and the transit of thousands to the South and North of the continent on the side of the Pacific Ocean.
