Abstract

The philosopher and physician Philipp Scherb is considered to be an important representative of Renaissance Paduan Aristotelianism at the Altdorfer High School. Scherb taught the whole branches of philosophy (including logic, ethics, politics, and metaphysics) and medicine. During his academic life, Scherb published just a few texts, but had a far stronger impact on his students, including Michael Piccart and Caspar Hofmann. He was particularly known for his teaching skills and for interpreting the Aristotelian writings.
