Abstract
Professor of Philosophy at the University of Pisa when Galileo was a student there, Borri was a fierce advocate of Aristotelianism. He considered Aristotle as “the true guide for philosophers” and maintained that “the whole posterity learnt more, and in a easier, better and sooner way, from him alone than from all antecedents” (Borri G. De motu gravium et levium. Marescotti, Florence, 1575, Preface).
