Paraguay

The Republic of Paraguay is a landlocked South American country (406,752 km2, 157,047 mi2), with a population of some seven million and a GDP of approximately US$34 billion. It is a member of Mercado Común del Sur (Mercosur) and borders Brazil, Argentina, and Bolivia (Figure 1). Paraguay’s geographic position makes it strategically important for transportation of Asian goods to Mercosur.
