Abstract
This chapter sought to understand the family context, both as a risk and protective factor, and showed that children are at risk for developing a range of problems from their exposure to family context violence. It also gives an overview across pandemic situations and how it might contribute to an increase of family violence, specifically in Portugal.
The focus is parental evidence-based intervention which should encompass both parents and children as an intervention that can prevent violence and promote positive parenting-child relationships. In this sense, we present the ACT – Raising Safe Kids Program – of American Psychological Association and its implementation in Portugal.
