Abstract

The addition of CT in hybrid bone SPECT/CT allows for assessing a broad spectrum of degenerative changes in the lumbar intervertebral discs. However, not every anatomic change is considered a distinct diagnosis and dedicated nomenclature for lumbar disc anomalies exist. This chapter illustrates this potential pitfall using disc bulging as an example of a CT anomaly that is not considered a distinct diagnosis.
