Abstract

Tenosynovitis broadly means tendon sheath inflammation and can be divided into infective and noninfective causes. Although the term tenosynovitis suggests inflammation, the histopathologic findings are noninflammatory and include fibrocartilaginous metaplasia of the retinacular pulley with narrowing of the fibro-osseous canal. The diagnosis of De Quervain tenosynovitis is mainly clinical. The role of imaging in De Quervain tenosynovitis is limited but may help assess any coexisting anatomical variations. This chapter describes the etiopathogenesis, clinical features, and the role of conventional radiological and Bone SPECT/CT in diagnosing and managing De Quervain tenosynovitis.
