Clinical Atlas of Bone SPECT/CT

Abstract

Osteochondral lesions in the foot mostly affect the talus and involve talar cartilage due to bone injury or degeneration. Compaction, shearing, or avulsion trauma usually causes the lesions, with 6% of ankle sprains leading to osteochondral lesions. Treatment includes a combination of conservative treatment and surgery when symptoms persist to prevent the progression of osteoarthritis. This chapter describes and illustrates the clinical characteristics, classification, and imaging findings of osteochondral lesions on X-ray, bone SPECT/CT, and MRI using case material.
