Abstract

The shoulder is highly mobile; in fact, it is the joint with the greatest range of motion of the body. The downside is, unfortunately, instability. While the shoulder allows circumduction, movements at the elbow are more restricted (flexion/extension and pronation/supination). This chapter provides an overview of the bony anatomy of the shoulder and elbow, their articulations, and muscular and ligamentous attachments.
