Abstract
Composed of three articulations (lateral tibiofemoral, medial tibiofemoral, and patellofemoral), the knee represents the largest joint in the body. As a pivotal-hinge type synovial joint, the knee provides a locomotive and load-bearing role by permitting flexion and extension, in addition to a small degree of medial/lateral rotation. This chapter discusses the bony and soft tissue anatomy of the knee joint.
