Abstract
Temporomandibular joint osteoarthritis (TMJ OA) is defined as progressive degenerative disorder leading to cartilage loss and reactive sclerosis and osteophyte formation. TMJ OA is often painful and impairs the joint mobility. Active TMJ OA in bone SPECT/CT is characterized by the combination of increased tracer uptake in the mandibular head and temporal fossa and morphologic degenerative changes. This chapter describes the findings in TMJ OA on anatomic and hybrid imaging.
