Abstract
Osteitis condensans ilii (OCI) is a noninflammatory condition characterized by triangular sclerotic bone lesions in the bilateral iliac region of the sacroiliac joints (SIJ). It is more common in pregnant women but can also occur in nulliparous women and men. Symptoms include non-radicular lumbar pain, stiffness, or lateral hip pain radiating to the buttocks and posterior thighs. OCI can demonstrate intense uptake on bone scintigraphy, and SPECT/CT is essential to differentiate the condition from degenerative or inflammatory conditions. In this chapter, the imaging characteristics of OCI are described and illustrated with case material.
