Clinical Atlas of Bone SPECT/CT

Abstract

Pain is the primary presenting symptom of septic or aseptic loosening of total hip arthroplasty. However, other arthroplasty complications can present with pain, and imaging is frequently required to narrow the differential diagnosis. Indeed, particle disease, periprosthetic fractures, aseptic lymphocytic vasculitis and associated lesions (ALVAL), heterotopic ossification, and polyethylene wear can occur. This chapter describes common postoperative complications after total hip arthroplasty and illustrates the abnormal findings on bone SPECT/CT.
