Abstract
Jaw osteomyelitis (JO) is an inflammatory disease that normally begins in the medullary space of the mandible or less often maxilla. Three entities are specified: acute osteomyelitis, secondary chronic osteomyelitis, and primary chronic osteomyelitis. This chapter describes the imaging findings and differential diagnosis of jaw osteomyelitis on bone SPECT/CT and the role of this imaging modality in patient management.
