Abstract

In interbody fusion surgery of the spine, fixation material is often used to stabilize the operated segment until bony fusion has occurred. Failure of the surgical hardware can cause inadequate stabilization and result in pseudoarthrosis. One such type of hardware complication is pedicle screw fracture. Bone SPECT/CT allows a comprehensive assessment of the surgical hardware by virtue of the CT component, as illustrated in this chapter.
