Abstract

Stress fracture of the tibia and fibula are relatively common in both middle- and long-distance runners and numerous other sports athletes. There has been a progressive increase in incidence as training regimens become more intense, especially in professional athletes. Early diagnosis is the key to rapid recovery and scintigraphy and MRI are the investigations of choice.
